Advice on Ridgid Wet Dry vacs

QUESTION:

I saw an amazing deal at the local HoDepot today. 4.5HP 45Litre Wet Dry vac. The demo ones weren't powered so I couldn't check out the suction etc to compare it to my old 2.5HP 8 gal ShopVac QSP. Anyone have experience with the Rigid vacs? Suction? Amount of CFM it moves? Thanks!!

ANSWER:

I have one of the Rigid 4.5s and one of 2.5 shop vacs. There is no comparison, the rigid has much more suction. I don't know the CFM numbers but I hook it up to my router table and table saw and it does a decent job. If you have the money and space I'm sure a dust collector has more draw.
They are powerful and reasonably well made, but are very, very noisy. If you want the technical specs (cfm, etc.) have a look at http://www.ridgidwoodworking.com.
I have the 6.25hp model (with the blower). It is so powerful, that when Im using the floor attatchment, it sometimes get stuck on the floor (from the suction). I have to make sure I keep it tilted off the floor slightly. Like the others said, it is noisy, but so are the rest of my power tools.
Using 3.25 hp 8 gal. Ridgid wet dry vac for 2+ years. Very happy with its performance!
