source for parts for the Beam central vacuum.
QUESTION: We're moving into a new house with the 110v version of the Beam brand
central vacuum. Naturally I'd like to find a cheaper place than the
'dealer/installer' to pick up the other accessories (like the power head,
2nd hose, etc.). I checked the manual but of course it advises to consult
the dealer, etc. Does anyone have a source for parts for the Beam at less
than full list price?

ANSWER: I installed a Vantage Vac in our house. I found that the power
head, and accessories from our old Sears canister vacuum worked
just fine. You may want to try Sears if the parts fit, I know they sell
individual parts. You may want to check out garage sales too. Find
an old canister vac, ditch the vac and keep the accessories. The hose
may be harder to get. I don't know how the Beam compares to other
brands or where to second source Beam.
