QUESTION: I have a Beam central vacuum and the filter bag keeps dropping to the bottom
of the cannister. When this happens, there's no filter and dust fills the
basement. We've used the unit for years and emptied it regularly. I
recently used it on some drywall dust. I'm betting the fine dust clogged the
filter fabric. I cleaned everything but I'm not sure where to place this
bag. It's a two-layer bag with weights inbetween. It's attached to a metal
hoop. There's a ridge on the canister, but it won't hold this hoop in
place. I have the original house owner's owners manuals, but there isn't one
for the vacuum. The Beam website doesn't offer any clues. Does anyone know
where this filter should sit, and how it does so?
ANSWER: I don't know about that one, but many of that kind of vac uses a wide
rubber band to hold the bag on. A central vac should be exhausted to the outside, as really fine dust
works its way through the filter bag back into the house if not, even with a
properly installed filter bag.
