Need advice for Best Canister Vacuum Cleaner
QUESTION: We need to purchase a vacuum cleaner and decided on a canister model.
The house has no stairs and about 80% carpeting, 20% ceramic/vinyl.
We would like to spend less than $300.I need some advice to have an
best pick
Any help would be much appreciated!
ANSWER: I see no need to spend more than $150.
I have a Sear's wet/dry vac that gobbles up any mess it's ever encountered,
and it's often on sale for $100. The smaller ones are less, and there
is a large selection of nozzles and attachments, even for carpet shampooing.
If you check Consumers' Reports, you'll find that for carpets, the
upright vacs with the beater bars/brushes are best, but a power nozzle
with an upright is a fair compromise.
The Odd Job closeout stores have the "All Terrain Vacuum" on sale
for about $70 - yet another wet/dry "shop vac".
The "shop vac" brand vacs are low quality and not worth buying.
