Which Central Vacuum System is the best

QUESTION:

I am interested in a central vacuum system but I don't know which ones are the best or the one to stay away from. What make gives you the best value for the dollar?

ANSWER:

You may want to read about the Hayden 6000+ system on our site at http://www.ristenbatt.com/ha-6000.htm. Larger two-motor systems are made by M.D. Manufacturing as well. Both systems have excellent motor driven power nozzles. Stay away from systems with only air driven power nozzles since they rob the power to run the revolving brush roll from the air flow. Systems with motorized nozzles actually add power to the system. You will find links to Hayden and Modern Day (M. D. Manufacturing) on our site at http://www.ristenbatt.com/brands.htm.

You are likely only going to have people tell you that the system they themselves have is best! I personally have the NuTone system using the largest capacity unit they have available. I like it and it seems well made, but have only 18 mos. experience with it so only time will tell. One of the options they have is a floor level outlet for the kitchen which is for sweeping debris into without using a dustpan. Really nice if you have tile or wood floors.
I have a Nutone as well, the 450 unit (I think). I put it in 14 months ago. It's in a two story 1800 sg ft house. And like you said, there is that floor outlet, which we have in the kitchen. So far I'm happy with the whole thing. Sure has cut down on the noise and dust when vacuuming. I vacuum every day because we have two dogs, one which is a Chow, and two birds, one is a Macaw. For me, I'm glad I installed the nutone system.
