Looking for best central vacuum cleaner can buy...
QUESTION: I wonder if you can recommend a vacuum cleaner that can do the best
filtration. We have a 20 years old house, about 1500 sq. feet, mostly
carpet, and have a cat. So far it's not too successful of finding a good
vacuum cleaner that really works. The house is a mess, need help soon.
Will central vacuum cleaner be easy to install in this old house (split
level)? Have read a little about those ULPA vacuum cleaners. They sound
very good. Is it my best bet? If so, which ones do you like the best?
Thanks in advance.
ANSWER: If there is any consolation, I bought an industrial strength model from
Karcher. 1200 W of pure power with 16 L water capacity. Comes with paper bag
and filter. Enlarged hose to suck up pebbles and other nasties.
I'm from Singapore. Got it when Karcher decided to scale down their market for
domestic cleaners and concentrate on industrial cleaners. I'm not sure if
there is Karcher dealer near you. I like our Riccar. It costs about $400 and it has it where it
counts...the beater brush is chromed steel with (I think) ball bearings.
If the beater brush jams on something the belt automatically kicks off.
You just put it back on and you are in business without burning up
a belt, or the motor. It uses a small paper bag which gives pretty
good filtration. You can buy a higher priced model with better
filtration if you really want. Ask a salesman what is involved.
What is good about central is that you don't worry so much about filtration.
Just dump the dirt in the garage, or someplace.
