Plugged Broan Central Vacuum

QUESTION:

I have a broan central vacuum system. My children used it to clean up the hamster cage and... nope, not the hamster, but the pine shavings used as litter have clogged up the system. Any ideas on how to unclog this system without tearing out sheetrock?

ANSWER:

you rent a snake. Not the poisonous kind,or the stepdaughter kind, but the same kind a plumber uses to unplug drains. The guy at the tool rental place will know what you want,if he is worth his salt.
Can you hook up a hose to the exhaust side of the vacuum and disconnect the pipe in the inlet side and let the exhaust blow the shavings back through and disperse them a little and then try hooking it up right and trying again after the shavings have spread out a little. Might be worth a try. I sure wouldn't tear our the sheetrock. Maybe a plumbers snake could also work.
borrow a portable vacuum and back fush it.
