Opinions About Broan brand ceiling fans ,range hoods, central vacuum systems?

QUESTION:

We're building a house and getting recommendations that we consider "Broan" brand ceiling fans, range hoods, bathroom ventilation, attic fans, medicine cabinets, door chimes, central vacuum systems, etc.
We've never heard of Broan.
We would appreciate any reactions from those who have experience with Broan or know it by reputation. Also (as is often the case), is it better with some of these products than others.

ANSWER:

We went throught this on the house we just built. In general, my impressions of their products are mixed. We looked at their bathroom fans (noisy) and range hoods. We ended up getting a "Best by Broan" range hood because it was the only one we could find that had the appearance we wanted with a built-in fan. It is actually pretty nice, but it is one of their premium lines and not a builders special.
For bathroom fans, anyway, I would insist on getting Panasonic fans. They are awesome - very, very quiet and effective.
Previously, Al Barnhard wrote in misc.consumers.house:
Broan fans were used in our new home (bathrooms). The only thing that drives us nuts is the built-in "nitelight" feature - never turns on consistently. It seems to be delayed sometimes.
As far as range hoods, I'd highly recommend Vent-A-Hood. I do a lot of cooking and these hoods get out every last bit of smoke, grease and steam. Also, no wire mesh screens to wash.
