Upright vs canister vacuum: What to buy?
QUESTION: Im curious what most of you have out there as far as
vacuums.
Do you have an upright vacuum? Or a good canister
vacuum with a power head?
I have a smallish apt.....with carpeting..... but
someday hoping to have mostly hardwood floors with big
area rugs.
Would a canister vacuum be a better choice for me?
ANSWER: Definitely go with a canister. The versatility and ability to change
heads is great. I have a Miele, love it, and highly recommend it.
However, I understand it is a bit pricy so my next recommenation would
be one of the Kennmores. Visit your local sewing/vacuum shot for a better understanding of how your
needs will be met. You don't say what manufacturer you've decided on so it's
moot at this point to suggest which would be "best for you."
For Castle Ranger, I use uprights (a Kirby and Hoover Windtunnel). We had a
canister prior that sufficed quite nicely. You might not even /need/ the
power of an upright or canister; a broom might be enough at this time. (I
remember storage being THE deciding factor for our first purchase when we
lived in an apartment.)
To forward-think yourself into a stall (which you already done given the
posting history) is just postponing any decisions.
