Another central vacuum ? Carpet attachments
QUESTION: I have a Better Maid central vac system which was installed in my new
home about 4 years ago.
The accessories we originally got with the unit included the TP210 air
powered carpet attachment.
The TP210 has developed quite a rattle, & doesn't work near as well at
it used to. The bearings in the roller portion & the (turbine?) portion
appear to be shot.
My better half took the thing to a local vac shop, who quoted about $170.00 to rebuild it. I'm thinking I would be better off to just buy a
new one.
The salesman also told her we should have a different, better, electric
powered (& much more expensive) carpet head & powered hose. We have 3
long haired dogs, so you can imagine the hair problem we have.
The salesman says the electric powered unit will hold up much better
than the TP210 we have, & will as much as TRIPLE? the effective
cleaning power of our system. I think it was a hoover kit & hose he was
recommending, for about $400.00
Any opinions?
ANSWER: Get the electric beater brush and the electric hose. The turbine powered
brushes just don't cut it. They're usually included in the cheaper kits.
Especially with hairy animals all over the house. Plus, you have those dogs! We sell the Beam Total Rugmaster kit for a little under $400. It is a
complete kit, including a 30' hose. They stand up to household use well.
I'm not sure how compatible it would be with your system, tho.
