Central Vac Reviews needed
QUESTION: I am in the market for a new central vacuum cleaner. I hear so much about the
Oreck XL but read that it has a small, not very powerful motor (that,
plus it costs alot!).
I want to spend in the range of $200-$300 and don't really care too much
about Heppa filters (perhaps I should?). I just want a powerful vac
that will clean my carpets well. I also have some stairs that I would
need to vac too.
Can anyone make some qualified recommendations or point me to some
objective reviews/FAQs.
ANSWER: I would suggest starting at: http://www.ristenbatt.com/
There are over a hundred articles on vacuums, selection, what to look
for, what to look out for, and it is the best site on the 'net that I
have seen. Ristenbatt is a vacuum store, but the info is just top
notch. A few minutes, and some downloads, and you can learn a lot
about vacuums. Get a central vac if you really want performance and dont want to lug a
motor around. Mine has 30' of lightweight hose that reaches everywhere, even
up/down the steps. Because the unit is permanently mounted, it has a larger,
heavy-duty motor and blower assy than the portables. More expensive, though,
around $650.
