Require both a central vacuum and a 110v plug for the power head.
QUESTION: I am in the process of designing a building a two stage cyclone dust
collector for a small shop. At the same time SWMBO has had enough of
our old Hoover. I have been looking around (Deja) for any information
about building a central shop vacuum that I could use for both the
shop and the house. I have seen centralized home vacuums that require
both a central vacuum and a 110v plug for the power head. I suspect
that his would work, but I am not sure if the planned two HP would
provide too much or not enough pull (especially considering it will be
pulling though many feet of 2.5 inch PVC. Has anyone else integrated
these two vacuums? Care to share any tips?

ANSWER: If all your hose outlets seal tight and there is no leakage along the
way you should be fine. That said, most home built in vacs run about 5
HP IIRC.
