Central Vacuum System - repair question

QUESTION:

I hope someone has a bit of advice for me. Our house had a Hoover Central Vacuum System when we moved in 2 yrs. ago. The house is now 11 yrs. old, and the system's warranty has expired. It worked well up until recently, when one of the wall 'inlets' suddenly stopped providing suction when the hose was hooked up. All the other wall inlets still work. Obviously, the problem is with the one 'inlet'. Or is it? I have checked the electrical connections and nothing seems amiss. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

ANSWER:

I lived in a house with central vac for about 10 years and because I vacuum first and ask question later I clogged the system more than once. Once way to get the clog out is to take a shop vac or a regular vac hose and apply suction to the clogged outlet. If that doesn't work use a plumbers snake and get the clog
A properly installed central vac has the tightest elbow at the inlets (not an outlet) the remainder of the elbows are wide sweeps and wont clog if it passes the first elbow. Reach inside the inlet and see if you can feel the clog and pull it out. It should be right there.
