commercial canister vacuum powders
QUESTION: Has anybody tried the military surplus powders (like what is on
www.gibrass.com)? If so, how do they compare to commercial canister
vacuum powders as far as consistancy and accuracy go? Was the load data
pretty close, or did it require a lot of working up of loads in order to
get things right? I am looking to get started reloading for my .223, and for
plinking ammo, and even hunting ammo if it proves to be good stuff,
this seems like it would be the way to go. Thanks a lot for your
replies.
ANSWER: I bought the 844, 846, 820, 860, nm04, 107 powders from this place. The
rifle powders work fine. I am very pleased with the 820 powder in my 44mag.
The nm04 powder is just like bullseye, maybe a bit faster. The 107 powder
meters difficult through my powder measure The jury is still out on the
WC860 for my 50BMG. The others seems to be ok, but I think they might foul
the bore more than the new commercial canister vacuum powders I used to use.I
also bought some new 4895 from him which is much cheaper and works just
fine. Also, I am satisfied with his .510 caliber bullets, but the 62g
bullets I got from him were not in good condition at all. Hopes this helps
