Consumer Report Canister Vacuum
QUESTION: I am looking for a good consumer report canister vacuum. I am considering the Panasonic
9647, Samsung 9069, Euerka Oxygen or maybe a Miele. I would appreciate
ANSWER: Strangely, the last vac we bought was a Sears unit, since my wife liked
the features, and it's been fine. Prior to that we had a Eureka that
gave very good service, but all brands change over 20-odd years. (We
replaced the Eureka because bags were getting hard to find and the hose
was in need of replacing the second time. Parts were still available
for it but were getting expensive.)
We have had the Panasonic 9647 for a couple years now. Very happy
with it.
A couple of the best features (IMHO) are the adjustable power control
and the seperate power wand. No problems to report.
After 15 years in our possesion and 10+ before that in the use of my in-
laws, our Electrolux is still going strong. The only replacement part
needed was a new hose. Yeah, it was $85, but if the kids would stop
stepping on it I wouldn't have had to replace it at all. Power head is
great for the carpets.
