Help with Electrolux Vacum
QUESTION: I need help with Electrolux vacum
I know you cannot buy the tamper proof tool to open my hoover, but
surely there must be some way to open it, my wire has broke inside and
i need to put a new flex on it.
After paying my money for the cleaner why should i have take it to an
authorised dealer and charge me money to do something which i can do
myself.
ANSWER: I think the screws /bolts electrolux use are tamper proof torx. The
implements to fit these things are available from maplin electronics is
their security bit set.
The other option is to chisel the pin off that prevents insertion of a
normal torx driver. I think Maplin sell the type of tool required as part of a set of
"tamper proof" Torx, spline etc screwdrivers.
I know what you mean thogh , I had one an electrolux, had several minor
problems which finished with a lose (non-funtional) on-off switch, and
got the shop to issue a refund, after which I bought a Panasonic with
fitted just 1 tamper proof screw (why one , I don't know).
All the faults I could have fixed myself. I won't be buying another
electrolux until they stop using tamper proof screws.
