Need a few models Eureka Excalibur, Sears Kenmore, Panasonic Dirt Sensor
to replace old Electrolux canister vacuum
QUESTION: Our 22 year old Electrolux canister vacuum is due for major repairs or
replacement.
We are looking at replacement possibilities and a few models that we find
interesting are the Eureka Excalibur, Sears Kenmore, Panasonic Dirt Sensor
or another Electrolux. (Canisters, of course).
Your experiences with these models would help us with our final decision,
and any extra info would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
ANSWER: Canisters? I would lean to Eureka or Sears, I have two old Eureka
canisters, both nearly identical, one about 18 years old, and one about 11. One problem, expect repairs eventually, I replaced the motor on the
older one, which now works fine, but the newer one's motor is on the
way out too, and DONT BUY THE EXCALIBER, they are not is well made as
the other Eureka canisters. Sears canisters are OK, my freind has 1
that is quite old, but it to has had its share of problems. I have a Sears Kenmore canister vacuum and I love it. My sister recommended
it. She has one that is 10+ years old. We both like the fact that we can
do some minor repairs ourselves and that we can easily get replacement parts
from the Sears repair center. They still have parts that work on her older
model. I bought the service contract with mine. They do yearly preventive
maintenance on the vacuum and will replace any broken parts those that are
strictly cosmetic.
The vacuum works great. I told my sister it really sucks...it does. I
mean that only in the best way. I was afraid I was going to suck up
one of my cats with that thing. I have a lot of cat hair to vacuum and
the Sears Kenmore really handles it. It also comes with a Powermate Jr.
which is a small attachment with a beater brush. It's great for vacuuming
cat hair off of couches, the cat tree, and the comforter
