QUESTION: Has any body bought hepa vacum from Eureka? I am thinking of buying
one and needed input. How can I go about buying a good vacuum without
going over my budget of $250 at most?
Secondly, those articles posted about carpet toxin etc. have really
scared me. I suffer from hay fever ( since two season) but I want to be
cautious. I can't throw away the carpets because I live in a rented
house but what can I do to protect my self.

ANSWER: Consumer Reports tested vacuum cleaners in March '96 and there is a
report in the '97 Buying Guide. Their tests included measuring dust
emissions. They mention that 'Premium-priced microfiltration dust bags,
which are supposed to limit dust dispersion, are an option with some
machines. But in our tests over the years, most of these have proven no
more effective than standard bags.'
Several models of Eureka had the lowest dust emissions including the
Bravo! The Boss 9334DT at $80.(upright)
