Hoover canister vacuum sweeper
QUESTION: We are planning to replace our old Hoover canister vacuum sweeper with a
new/better vacuum. We have 2,000 sq.ft. of hardwood floors (no carpet in
the house at all) and tile in the laundry room, bathrooms. etc. We have
no stairs to worry about, but quite a bit of large, heavy furniture that
would need to be vacuumed under/around.
One final note, I suppose, is that my wife is quite petite (<100 lbs.)
and probably could not handle a large, heavy, awkward machine very well.
Our thinking is that a good canister vacuum would be better than an
upright due to the hardwood floors. I would consider most any brand or
price, but would prefer to buy one made in the USA or, perhaps, in
England.
I know that some of the machines are very expensive ($1,000+) and I
would consider buying a used one (there are several sweeper repair/sales
shops here in my area), and I would appreciate any advice for or against
buying a higher quality unit from a reseller.
Any personal experience or professional advice would be appreciated.
ANSWER: Check out the Orik XL.It does great on carpet and wood floors. You
don't even need to adjust between the two,it does so by itself. It also
comes with a free canister vac.The XL is an upright. It is very light,
cost about $300,made in USA and is used by major hotel chains. I just spent a fair amount of time researching canister vacuums
and bought a top of the line Panasonic (MC-V9647) through
http://www.vacdepot.com for $299 including shipping (list price
is $469.99). Great price, terrific vacuum cleaner! Probably
not made in the USA, though, as you stated that you prefer.
Another site I found which is extremely informative but which
couldn't match the prices of Vacdepot is http://www.ristenbatt.com.
