What is Good Vacuum Cleaner for My Rugs
QUESTION: I have a 6 amp Hoover vacuum cleaner which is OK by me, but I have been
told that a better vacuum cleaner would be more effective over the long run. I
moved into a house 6 mos. ago, and it has nice carpets, which I would like to
maintain. Should I get a better vacuum cleaner, and if so what can people
recommend. Also, does it make sense to get one of the steam cleaning types of
vacuum cleaners?
ANSWER: Generally carpets are better cleaned with upright cleaners. The size of
the motor is not a good indication of the ability of any cleaner.
Personally I like the overall qualities of my central system with a
powerhead unit. It works well, is quiet, easy to use and dust does not get
back into the house.
You should consider a number of factors and what they mean to you.
How important is convenience to you?
Does the weight of the sweeper cause a problem for the person that may
use it?
Is dust a serious problem?
Do you have kids or animals?
Do you have any special needs (like sand from a nearby beach.)
