Kirby Vacum? Comments anyone
QUESTION: My wife just got suckered into a demonstration and now she really wants to buy
Kirby Vacum . anyone have one? are they any good?
we have 2 dogs and a cat so lots of dander
ANSWER: My folks had one. They're pretty good quality and do a good job, but
they are waaaaaayyy overpriced. A quality built-in vac will do a
better job and may/will cost less. If you want a standard upright vac
I'd check something like consumer reports - I'm sure panasonic,
hoover, etc. make units that are as good and cost a heck of a lot
less.
If your wife is stuck on a Kirby you might shop for a used one. Thats
what my folks did and it has worked out very well for them. Kirby is a great carpet cleaner but unfortunately are way over priced and
are costly to repair. The Kirby demo is impressive but when it comes down
to it you can get the same "outstanding" results with most new vacuums. If
you're still looking for a Kirby do some shopping at local vacuum stores and
the newspaper, there are usually no shortage of used machines available at
half the cost of a new model.
