QUESTION: I have just purchased a MD Manufacturing silent master s2 central vaccum
cleaner and I was planning to install it in my garage which is seperate from
my house. This would entail placing the pipe outside and under my driveway
with the unit being up to 150 feet away from the last inlet. I was wondering
if anybody knew the maximum pipe length for this size vacuum and had any
thoughts on the hazards of installing the pipe under a driveway.
ANSWER: Save yourself some REAL spam by installing the unit as suggested by the
manufacturer ie CENTRALLY.
Or you could buy a remotley vacuum
Now more seriously, Tom you can line the small closet with pyramid foam like
the throwaway hospital matress pads to take care of the noise.
Simply stated -- more simple is more better. you will need a bigger pipe to decrease the friction loss in the 150' pipe.
let's go to three inch. NOW we have increased the volume -- SO we need to add
another vacuum pump or double the displacement of this one in the garage so the
negative pressure will build up in a reasonable time after a sort circuit of
the system
Also I would recommend a water trap. If the warm moist air from the house goes
to a cooler pipe it will drop it's water, a provision may need to be made for
this condensate.
