Need advice: Anybody has a Miele Allergy Control Plus vacuum cleaner?
QUESTION: I was wondering if there are any people here who have the Miele Allergy
Control Plus and would be so kind to help me out with following
questions. I would really appreciate this! Thanks in advance!: - is the Allergy Control being made so that you can place it vertically
to vacuum on stairs (has apparently to do with placement of power cord
and exhaust)?! - the Allergy Control Plus comes standard with a HEPA filter, right?
Now, is what is being blown out again, really "fresh clean air", or is
there always some small dust that is being blown out again? - Is it true that the active HEPA filter also contains carbon that
filters out any smells of the motor of the vacuum cleaner? Does that
mean that air being blown out again is totally odourless?
PS: is there a way to check that when you buy a new filter for your
vacuum cleaner that is indeed the Active HEPA filter and not some other
Miele filter compatible with the unit? - can you also control suction power and on/off from the handle of the
vacuum cleaner when you have to stop the vacuum cleaner at once ? - most Miele vacuum cleaners do have 3 rotating wheels, where the
Allergy Control does have 4 rotating wheels. Doesn't that make the
Allergy Control less manoeuvrable (more wheels = less manoeuvrability?)? - how good is the quality of the dust bags and how fast do the pores get
blocked? Doesn't that reduce suction power rather fast? Do you have to
change dust bags rather fast to keep optimum suction power?
I would really appreciate any good feedback from people owning the Miele
Allergy Control Plus? Thanks very much!
ANSWER: I don't own the Miele Allergy Control Plus, but I do own the Miele Red Star
model (S314 series). In fact, I just checked the Miele website:
http://www.miele-vacuum.com/ and did not find the Allergy Control Plus
listed. Is it a new model?
My Red Star has 3 wheels and the power cord on the back. However, it stands
up fine on the stairs, and in this position the power cord is on the bottom
of the unit - the unit is designed so that the cord is not squeezed. The
exhaust is on the top of the unit, and on the stairs, in this position the
exhaust is on the side of the unit.
I have very sensitive sinuses and airborne allergies, and I can vacuum with
my Miele without a dust mask and without the HEPA filter installed without
experiencing any symptoms. I haven't smelled the motor when running my
vacuum either. The "really fresh air" in my exhaust (without HEPA filter)
is about 97% effective, in micron size. My husband is a scientist and his
advice to me when I was looking was that a micron is so very tiny, that one
wouldn't notice the difference between 97% and 99.8-9% micron amounts.
I get a new standard filter in every box of 5 bags. I can buy the HEPA
filter separately. I don't know why Miele would want to put a non-HEPA
Miele filter in a box labeled HEPA Miele filter.
Perhaps you don't trust the store where you are looking at this Miele model?
