Miele vacuum cleaners: How can you really know when to replace the HEPA filter?
QUESTION: I was wondering if anybody here has a Miele vacuum cleaner with *HEPA*
filter against allergy, etc.. Now, how can you actually know when you
have to replace the HEPA filter if your vacuum cleaner doesn't have a
light indicator to tell you. Isn't it so that HEPA filters need to be
replaced more often then normal filters to stay effective against
allergy etc..?! Has anyone experience with this?! Also, I don't have a
Miele vacuum cleaner yet, but does that mean you have to open up the
case all the time to check if it's time to replace the filter? Again, I
would especially like to know this for HEPA filters.. Anyone can give me
some clear guidelines how to check this?!
Thanks in advance!
ANSWER: I have a Meile and love it. The dealer recommends changing the HEPA
fiter once a year, I really think that it needs to be done more than
that. There comes a point where you smell a little dust in the air
when starting the unit, that is when I check the bag, and if it's not
almost full, I change the filter. It usually runs about every 8-10
months.
The filter and bags are easy to change, and it's an incredibley quite
vacuum cleaner, especially when you consider the amount of air it's
moving. And that's where it really counts . . . amps are not the
final measure of the vacs ability to clean, it's how much air its
moving, and how well it's filtering the exhaust.
Again, I cannot recommend a Meile enough. It is a very well built,
powerful, and quiet cleaning machine.
