Ridgid wet/dry vac sound suppressor accessory
QUESTION: Hey, has anyone tried or seen the difference this Ridgid Wet Dry Vac?
Its design is one that looks like it diffuses the exhausted air, thereby
dampening the sound. I guess I could have picked one up and tried it and if I
didn't think it made all that difference, return it. I don't like returning
used items... guess that goes to show how much junk I've probably got in the
basement or garage!! Not a pretty sight.
Anywho, the description for the part says, "Significantly reduces noise." None
of their demo vacs were hooked up or accessible to test out this "muffler"
Anyone care to share experiences? Thanks
ANSWER: I have the Craftsman equivalent of the Ridgid wet/dry vac and the
Craftsman muffler for it. I haven't compared the two mufflers, but since
the vacs are so similar, I would assume the mufflers are, too. The sound
reduction is not great, but it IS noticeable. It especially reduces the
high frequencies. I leave the muffler attached at all times. I bought the rigid muffler for my 5 hp genie and the difference is hardly
noticable.
