Antique Royal Vacuum Cleaner--need info
QUESTION: I just acquired an antique Royal Vacuum cleaner in perfect working
order, but I don't know much about it. It says on the bottom "Mod. 603."
It looks like it's from the 40s. Can anybody help me identify it or tell me
what it might've cost originally? E-mail me for pictures if you need any.
ANSWER: Your post reminded me of my ex-husband, who really, really desperately
wanted a Shop-Vac for our first Christmas. Seeing as how he was sooo
very romantically inclined, I bought him one. He opened it in front of
the entire family - nieces, nephews, mother & father. Well, he was so
excited about the durned thing he plugged it in and turned it on. To
check the vacuum power, he put his hand over the tube and it sure did
stick there - that was one powerful little vacuum. In his innocent
amazement, he turned to me and said, "Wow! This thing REALLY SUCKS!"
Of course, the kids were the first ones in the room to realize his faux
pas (Thanks, Ronnie, for the French lessons - you have enabled me to
recognize the language when I see it) - and the adults quickly followed
suit. One of life's more embarassing moments for the poor fellow.
I really can't tell you anything about your vacuum cleaner, but I just
couldn't resist that opportunity
