Experience about Sanyo Canister Vacuum

QUESTION:

How long have you had your vacuum, and what is it?
We've had a Miele and really liked it- for 7 years until the motor started sparking and it started overheating. It also became noisy after it was on a heating vent in a cr*ppy house we rented and it toasted the thing.
we went to our local Miele dealer and looked at the White Star- I could use my powerhead so it would be a pretty good thing at under
$500- true HEPA, good suction, long cord, etc. (and is there really a difference between true HEPA and HEPA-like?).
then my husband found this Sanyo SC-X1000P Canister Vacuum that he is interested in because he loved our Sanyo phones. It's way less than the Miele, but is it as good? there's lots of hype on sanyo.com, of course....
I want a good, easy to use vacuum. I don't want to be lied to- the Miele dealer said that we likely would have gone through a half dozen Hoover Windtunnels, etc, in the 7 years we've had the Miele but I have a friend who has had hers for 10 years. I also have briefly tried bagless and didnt' like them- the collection vessel was too small and icky to empty. Is the Sanyo like that?
What's *your* vacuum experience?

ANSWER:

I bought a Kenmore, which is made by Samsung (I think). I had looked at a Miele, but I am glad that I didn't get it. I am very happy with the Kenmore. It cost half the price and has all the same features. No problems so far.
Some number of year old Kenmore (7-10?). Hose has some duct tape on it now. We had another Kenmore before that. Doesn't get much use these days. Last year we tore out almost all of our carpeting. Sweeping is MUCH easier. I don't really have any problems with it. Maybe worth $300CDN new.
