Help with OpOp Toy Vacuum metal!
QUESTION: I need help with OpOp Toy Vacuum metal!
My good 'Ol OpOp has been standing looming over the rest of my BW
collection as the centerpiece of my display for a couple months now. Well,
last night I decided to get him down and fiddle around with him some more. As
I was rediscovering just how cool he was, I noticed something about the
vacuumized metal pieces. The more exposed parts seem to be fading! I assume
it just has something to do with direct light (it's not sunlight as the parts
that are affected face away from a window with a closed curtain in front of
it.), but I don't know what to do about it. I mean, I can't display him if his
color is going to all fade away, but I really want to display him. Is there
anything I can do besides keeping him in the dark most of the time to keep his
colors? As for my other Transmetatls, they seem to be fine, but they move
around more often, mostly because they are easier to play with, and are easier
to remove from the display without disturbing anything. Anyway, if anyone
knows what I can do, please help!
ANSWER: This is the first I've heard about it occurring to the TM figures.
I got my Optimal Optimus when he was first released. I have him
displayed on a shelf next to the Primes and Galvatron's trio, away
from direct sunlight, and he still looks fine. Unless it is just
a layer of dust on him, there is nothing I think that you can do
except to put him away from all direct lighting. I've never heard of this problem before. I know that white plastic will yellow (beware, Jetfire lovers!) if left in the sun...
Honestly, my best suggestion would be to keep him out of direct sunlight. Draw
your curtains, move your display shelves to a far wall, or something. I find
this whole phenomenon rather strange, but then, my entire apartment is shrowded
in shadow...
