QUESTION: This should be a simple one! I haven't bought
a new vacuum cleaner in 20 years, and I'm totally
ignorant of the current market.
I need some advices about Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Please suggest Your choice of the best home vac.

ANSWER: Things have changed on that appliance. The one thing that I would demand
today is a HEPA filter. Probably half the brands have it now. I still
prefer a throw away bag over the dump chambers, but that is just my opinion.
Any of the major brands should be good, but I don't have any other
recommendations for you.
I had an Oreck. What a piece of junk. The canister vacuum does a better job.
It's nothing more then a carpet cleaner not a vacuum cleaner.
I have used a Fantom and was very happy with it (best if you can find one with
filters that can be cleaned. Replacements are pricey). I have it for about 4
years. I now have a Dyson and I love it. It picks up even more grit then the
Fantom did.
