central vacuum /vacuflo versus the beam
QUESTION: We are looking into a central vacuum. WE are leaning towards the
vacuflo versus the beam, Anybody have any input? We are a little
worried about the beam because it does not vent to the outside. On the
other hand the vacuflo has a beater brush that is driven by the vaccuum (less power?) than electricity. Any comments appreciated
ANSWER: I'm not familiar with these brand names but if it was me, I would favor a
vac that vents to the outside.Especially if you have alergies. Just an opinion. I installed a Vacuflo system this year. It is my third central vac system (in three houses) and is by far the best. The vaccuum-powered rug beater
gizmo works very well and is wonderfully convenient compared to the ones
that have their own power cord.
The only fault I can find derived from my desire to have bronze wall
outlets rather than plastic. These bronze outlets require that the hose be
plugged in with a particular rotational orientation and unlike the plastic
ones that vacuflo sells, they offer no detents, prongs, or other rotational
guides to get this orientation correct on the first try. But the problem
is slight and is of my own doing.
I'd go for Vacuflo again in a heartbeat. Exhausting to the outside is a
major win. We just installed Electrolux in new construction and wired for the electric
beater brush/light. We tried Vacuflo and found the Electrolux moved more
smoothly and was easier to use. It also exhausts to the outside
