What is turbo's effect on vacuum accessories?
QUESTION: How does turbocharging a vehicle built around a normally aspirated engine
affect the vacuum driven accesories (i.e. brake booster). It seems that at
positive intake pressures these items won't operate. Do you need to add an
accumulator? Check valves?
ANSWER: The brake booster has its own vacuum "charge" thru a check valve.
Do you expect any other problems?
Keep in mind that many vacuum accessories don't operate at wide
open throttle either, and don't need to. I can't think of any of those
that would be damaged or operate in a bad (reversed) way if applied
positive pressure. Maybe you can?
