QUESTION: I want to sew my own vacuum cleaner bags. I know that commercial
vacuums, like janitors use, use them. So, I know it will work. The
store-bought ones are just obscene in price and last a minute and 1/2
in my house. Anybody have experience with this? If I get a successful
result, I'll put up instructions on the web.
ANSWER: I just use vacuum bags found at second hand shops. Some of them need to be
taped into place, but they're just about free second hand.
These are NEW unused bags. Reusing a vacuum bag would be an unpleasant
experience. No suggestion however, when the time comes, be it in one or five years
to buy a new one, I would suggest a bagless cleaner...what a
difference! There's a second hand shop that sells vacuums at $5.00 each. More frugal to
just get a new one when one breaks. Cost of bags approaches
