QUESTION: I am currently in the market for a reliable performing upright vacuum cleaner with attachments.
Range: $100 - $200.

ANSWER: Consumer Reports has an article covering this. The Eureka Bravo Boss
was their Best Buy--only $85 and almost as much cleaning effectiveness as
the much more expensive ones. We went withthe Eureka Boss Victory, which
is ergonomically designed (i.e., easier on my husband's bad back, and it
looks cool too). It has some neat attachments too. We got it on
sale for $85, but I think it's usually $100 or so. It is the best
vacuum I've ever used--I couldn't believe how effectively and
effortlessly it cleaned. Of course, I am not a vacuum "expert" and as
the recent thread on Consumer Reports noted, experts have different
standards than the rest of us. But if you're just looking to get your
carpet clean, I think Eureka Boss is a good mode
