QUESTION: I'm looking to pick up a new wet/dry vac for around the shop and home.
I owned an old craftsman (15+ yrs) vac and was very pleased with it.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on the current crop of vac
available. My needs are: 15+ gal capacity
wet and dry vac (basement)
psuedo dust collector
dry wall sander dust collector
car vac
something quieter than a jet engine
low profile - so not to tip over as I drag the unit behind me
I see that "Shop Vac" have all sort of models, e.g. QSP, QSP plus,
Ultro Pro, unfortunately I can seem to determine what the difference
are between them.
ANSWER: If you get the HEPA filter, the Fein vac will work well for dry wall
dust. I have one and that was it's first job after purchasing it. It's
relatively quiet. I have the mid sized Fein. The large one might be
big enough for your needs. Very well made. there is an outlet for
equipment to be plugged in that will automatically turn on the vac and
shut it off after a 3 second delay to clear the hose. It's not cheap,
but quality usually isn't.
